our story.
Josh and I have known each other since we were 15 - we became close friends and eventually started dating at 18. We dated for four years before life took us in different directions: I travelled through Europe while Josh began working at RBC in Tobermory. We stayed in touch over the years, but it wasn’t until 2019, ten years later, that we found our way back to each other. A real 'it was always you" story <3
August 2, 2025 | the ceremony.
As a wedding planner, I wanted to experience something completely different - nothing like anything I’ve planned before. At first, we thought we’d simply sign the papers at our local courthouse. Then we upgraded it to a home signing with an officiant, which then led to a mini elopement ceremony - my favourite day!
a private ceremony at home.
Venue: Our home in Creemore is our first home, and we couldn’t imagine a more meaningful place to get married. To prepare the space, we created the perfect backdrop and set up the area for a small celebration that would follow.
The Intent: Local, sustainable, and budget-friendly.
Planning: We booked our photographer and officiant about five months in advance. Typically a bit late, but our dates were flexible, and short morning sessions were generally available.
Guest Count: 9 - Josh and I, our three children, and our parents.
our ceremony timeline.
Our timeline was inspired by our 2-year-old, as he's more predictable in the mornings (iykyk!).
8:00 - 9:00 am get the yard ready
9:00 - 10:10 am breakfast, hair, make-up, get dressed
10:00 am guests arrive
10:10 - 10:30 am photographer/officiant arrival and photos
10:30 am ceremony
10:50 am toast and photos
12:00 pm cake & coffee (Dutch influence)
1:00 - 4:00 pm lunch & toast
At 4:00 pm it was just us and the kids, so we went for a family dinner at the Creemore Pub and then home for a bonfire and some stargazing in the yard.

October 18, 2025 | the party!
a celebration at the Creemore Springs Brewery.
Venue: Creemore Springs Brewery
Intent: We wanted to host a casual celebration to include our extended family and close friends. Our goal was a simple get-together with great live music, good beer, Dutch food, and a fun night out together.
Planning: We kept everything very stress-free! We booked the venue about seven months in advance and secured our live music three months before the event. The SOP was finalized 1 month ahead, and we arranged all drinks and food two weeks prior. We kept things simple with florals and decor, sourced locally.
Guest Count: Approximately 50 people
our party timeline.
We rented the Brewer's Inn, which is available when booking space at the Creemore Spring Brewery. The home was perfect for family meals, porch drinks, and getting ready.
On the day:
9:00 - 1:00 pm Relaxing morning at the Brewer's Inn
1:00 pm Friends and more family arrive
2:00 pm Lunch, arranged florals, hair, make-up
3:00 pm Get dressed, backyard hangout
5:00 Photographer arrival and photos
6:00 pm Party begins at Creemore Springs Brewery
6:30 pm First dance & parent dances
10:00 pm Party ends
Lucky us, the patio was open all night, not something you'd expect mid-October, and it had started to rain just before the night ended. At 10:30 pm, we headed back to Brewer's Inn with a small group.
